Panelised Grading Rules
Grading rules can now be specified by the placement of a certain number of panels of a specific size. These can avoid defects and limit the coverage of others. Every rule set is customised on a client by client basis - let us know if you'd like to know more about how this would work for your installation.

New Defects - and improved defect detection
We're pleased to announce two new defect types:
Brahman Neck Humps - Not only are we now able to detect and isolate neck humps but we've also created a new predictive process that allows us to estimate the effective cuttable area around neck humps post shaving. This allows us to place panels and exclusion areas around neck humps accurately when grading in full substance.
Raised Lumps (such as severe ringworm) - graded separately from ringworm
As always, we've been hard at work improving performance on our existing defect detection. Notable changes in the most recent release have been:
Closed bite. We now treat divoted (concave) bites as small healed scars while raised bites are grouped into the defect class known as 'inherent'.
Healed scars that have become raised are now classified as inherent - so they can be treated appropriately in finishing.
Flay detection has been improved substantially. Spotting flay (from the grain side) is notoriously difficult. We've implemented a new technique that takes a very different approach to this problem and is yielding great results.

Smart Skirts
During defect detection, our system typically ignores the region around the fringes of the hide where pleating and subsequent tear-out typically happens.
In the past, the 'skirt' has been predefined and set as a parameter.
Based on a recent set of trials, we've created a new method that dynamically adjusts the skirt thickness around the hide (based on predicted future hide shape) and seeks to maximise usable area. Skirts are now available down to 50mm widths. This has a major impact on panel placement so, If you're a using a panelised grading process and would like to try this new feature on your system - get in touch and we'll enable this for you.

View hides on your Mindhive touch screen display
View colour images of hides as they are graded alongside the existing defect map. Simply tap any label along the central bar to change what's shown on the right hand side of the screen.

View individual hide records with advanced Reporting
List, search and view individual hide records—see hide area, grade, batch information, colour images and defect maps. You can also download reports in CSV format, helpful for integrating numbers and gathering statistics for company reports.
